Mold Damage Claims
Mold coverage varies widely from policy to policy. We review what yours says and document the loss so the claim is presented clearly.
Mold coverage: what to know
Many policies limit or exclude mold, and others cover it only when it results from a covered water loss. Sub-limits are common.
That makes the source of the moisture, how quickly it was addressed, and the wording in your policy especially important.
We read the policy, trace the documented cause, and help present the claim accordingly.
Signs to look for
Musty odors that don’t go away
Visible growth on walls, ceilings or around windows
Staining or discoloration after a leak
Warped or bubbling drywall or flooring
What affects a mold claim
The cause
Was the moisture from a covered event, such as a sudden pipe failure or storm damage?
The timing
Prompt reporting and drying are important. Delays can hurt coverage.
Your policy limits
Mold sub-limits, exclusions and endorsements can change what is available.

Frequently asked questions
Is mold covered by homeowners insurance?
It depends on your policy and what caused the mold. Coverage may be available when mold results from a covered loss, such as certain types of water damage, but policies often contain limitations, exclusions, or specific coverage limits for mold.
Should I remove the mold before filing?
Document the damage and report the loss promptly. Take photos and videos, keep records of any emergency work, and save all invoices and receipts. If immediate action is necessary to prevent further damage or address a safety concern, document the condition before and during the work whenever possible.
Do you test for or remove mold?
No. We are licensed public adjusters and handle the insurance claim, not mold testing or remediation. You choose the qualified professionals who perform the testing and remediation, and we can work with their documentation as part of the claim.
What does a public adjuster cost?
Our fee is typically a percentage of the insurance claim proceeds and generally ranges from 10% to 30%, depending on the type and complexity of the claim, services required, and applicable state requirements. Your exact fee is discussed upfront and clearly stated in your written agreement before you hire us.
Can you guarantee a higher settlement?
No. Every claim is different, and no public adjuster can guarantee a specific outcome or settlement amount. What we can do is thoroughly evaluate and document your loss, present the claim to your insurance carrier, and advocate for the full amount you are entitled to under your policy.
